Thanksgiving Turkey

How cute is this new turkey rubber stamp!? I know that Halloween hasn't even arrived yet but I couldn't help but stamp and color this little guy. He should be available soon in the Just for Fun online store. 

Just for Fun stamps. Club Scrap papers. American Crafts twine. Chameleon colored pencils. Recollections washi tape. Tonic Nuvo drops. 

1. Splattered brown distress inks onto the background.  
2. Add three different washi tapes vertically.
3. Wrap twine around card panel and adhere to card base. 
4. Stamp turkey, color and fussy cut. Stamp sentiment on background panel.
5. Adhere turkey to panel with dimensional foam. 
6. Add Nuvo drops and let dry.

The Gift of Love

I was so in love with the October Scandinavia collection that I had to buy every piece of the Scandinavia Holiday collection as well. I just love the images and color combination of this kit.

 

November's Idea Deck Challenge is to use the King of Clubs from any of the 5 Idea Decks. Here I used the King of Clubs from Vol. II which is a card making idea deck. I thought this gave me a great opportunity to use those vellum papers I've been hoarding. These cards came together so quickly that I may make multiples and use them as early Christmas gifts. 

I picked up some Christmas stencils by Carta Bella recently and couldn't wait to use some spackle with them.  I love the texture this gives!

Be Original

October's Idea Deck challenge was to use the 10 of diamonds from any Idea Deck.  I chose to use the Card Making Idea Deck Vol. II. (This happens to be the only Idea Deck left for sale of the five decks.) These decks sell out quickly! The Idea Decks provide you with sketches and cutting instructions for a multitude of layouts, cards and projects. They're great for when you lose your crafting mojo.

 

Usually I shy away from these little squares but the stamp images from the Scandinavia collection are perfect for decorating them.

Halloween Blueprint Stamps

You know what Halloween means to me?  It's not about costumes and candy...it's about cooler weather on the way! No better reason than that to stamp with my Tim Holtz's Blueprint stamps. I can't get enough of these stamps. Pair them up with a washi tape...easy peasy creations.

Special Sketch

June's Card Sketch Challenge over at Club Scrap is a fun linear one and even comes with cutting directions. Thanks to Roni there is little paper waste when creating these cards. I wanted to use the use cut-aparts from the Pattern Play Greetings to Go so I opted to not use the trimming guide.

I created the background using spray webbing which is my favorite art medium with this collection. Washi tape is a perfect substitution for the paper strips on the sketch.  I have several dozens of rolls of washi and try to find any excuse to use them. Nuvo drops were added to the splashes for dimension.

Past & Present Pismo

April's Past & Present challenge was to create a project using one of three chosen collections.  Sunken Treasure being the chosen oldest kit, debuting in November 2001.  I can't even believe I have paper from 2001 but I've been holding on to this one.  I love the handmade paper with gorgeous teal flecks imbedded. The embossed images on each side have a metallic shimmer to it which goes perfectly with the bronze paper. Check out that crab washi tape. I purchased this tape to go with the Boardwalk collection but never got around to using it.  How cute is that!

Looking for a simple card? How about a way to use some of your washi tape?

Score three lines 1/4 inch apart.

 Leave a 1 inch space.

Score three more lines.

Apply washi tape to the 3/4 inch space.

Add sentiment.

Happy Retirement!

These nekked (naked) Assembly Line Pages from Cinema have been sitting in my binder since August 2014. I really didn't know what to do with them until these photos from a good friend's retirement/50th birthday party. They reminded me of counting down the years until retirement. Thank you for your service to the community, Jeff!

Micahels had a great sale on washi tape and I couldn't resist buying these metallic sets. Of course I had to get the silver, gold and bronze sets. A girl can't have too many rolls of washi tape!

 

The Card Concept #64 challenge uses my favorite color combination. Gold, black and pink. What great timing with Valentine's Day approaching soon. 

 

Here I used gelatos to splatter the background in black and gold. Stamp the sun image twice from Color Me Happy and gold heat emboss. Stamp sentiment in center of one sun. Next color the suns with pink Copics and fussy cut images. Stack images using foam adhesive circles.  I added pink sequins with black Nuvo pearl drops for a final touch.

Choose to Shine

I'm absolutely loving the rain we've been receiving here in Cali. It makes for some great crafting days! I spent the entire day Saturday crafting. Now, I'm not one to make New Year's Resolutions...but I did.  USE MORE STUFF.  I really need to start using the crafting supplies I have.  My embellishments are getting out of control. So when the Color Me Happy collection arrived I dug out all the Color Burst panels I've made in the past.

Fusion Card Challenge has an awesome challenge this week. I couldn't decide between the hot cocoa mugs or the sketch.

Christmas Wreath Shaker

Happy December!

I had one last challenge to fulfill for November and finally did it with a day or two to spare. I just couldn't find the right NBUS (Never Been Used Stamp) to create a wreath. I finally found a sprig from Aromatherapy that I wanted to work with. However, after stamping it, I really wasn't happy with the inside so I used a circle punch for the center.  Then I had the wild idea to create a shaker box using Christmas colored sequins. I've never created a shaker box card before and this will probably be my one and only. I had those little sequins everywhere before I got them contained.

As you read this posting, I'm hoping to be on the road heading somewhere. Not sure where, no plans written in concrete. We're heading north and see how far we get. ROAD TRIP!  You might catch a few glimpses of our travels or some digital artwork here.  I'm leaving the paper behind!

 

 

 

    

Disney Paradise

Hey...I think this is the first layout I've shared using the Paradise collection. I've been using it for projects and cards but decided the colors went great with my recent Disney photos. I was super excited to break out my coveted Disney washi tape!

Merry Christmas Literature Style

I hope you were able to take a look at yesterday's Blog Hop. The rest of this week I'll be sharing some more cards from the Literature Greetings to Go kit. At first I was hesitant about doing these cards with the multiple folds, but then I really started to love the different layers.

 

I misted white paint onto green cardstock and then die cut these trees. I placed then on all the layers in different places to give depth. I wanted to add some other bling to it, but decided the trees were beautiful on their own.

This next card I used one of my favorite Christmas washi tapes, reminds me of a flannel shirt. That look went perfect with the stitched die cuts I bought over the weekend at the Scrapbook Expo.

Roman Forum

What a magnificent sight the Roman Forum is! Being able to walk around the Forum and through the ruins is unbelievable. We were awe-inspired by the architecture and feats of strength accomplished without modern technology.

 

Our first trip to the Rome didn't allow us the opportunity to see the Forum up close and personal so we made it a point for this vacation. We used the Rick Steves Audio Guide app to guide our way through the ruins. If you ever go to Europe, see what audio guides he has available. We used them everywhere, they're free and invaluable!

Garden of Friendship

Ah...Washi tape...how do I love thee?! Yep, I'm an addict. I can't resist a cute washi tape. I love the fact that you can add it to a layout or card like ribbon without it adding much bulk. But it has many other great values. Just Pinterest it. You'll see. Here I used the tape to cover some bright purple buttons. This wood washi tape is one of my favorites since I love being outdoors. I honestly don't know the makers of many of these tapes. I recently learned of an awesome idea from Arlene P: Write on the inside of the roll who makes it or from what collection its from. You should join the Stash Challenge over on the Club Scrap Forum and share your projects using washi.

Tear washi into two pieces if one doesn't fit.

Fold over sides and trim closely to the back.

This keeps the washi tape from bunching at the sides.

Poke holes if you want to keep the button appearance.

 

 





Friendship Swap

One of the things I enjoy about October Retreat is the Friendship Swap. I love getting these 6x6 pages of fellow retreaters. Getting a glimpse into their lives. Before attending retreat I'll go through last year's pages and reacquaint myself with names and faces. So far our swap group is nearing 25 with one layout made for Club Scrap.

I try to keep my swap pages simple since I'm making anywhere from 25-50 6x6 pages. I start with seeing which color cardstock I have the most of and go from there. I try to add my favorite embellishments or art medium. Here I have cork (duh), paint and washi tape.

Looking forward to seeing all my fellow retreaters in one month!

Christmas in July

The first thing I do when a kit arrives on my doorstep is to take out the paper and look at the designs. It would probably frighten some of you to know that I fondle feel the texture and sometimes even smell the paper. Some designs of the Office Space collection immediately reminded me of Christmas. A retro, groovy Christmas. I immediately took out these specific papers and made panels with them.  I used a previous sketch from May to create this first card. There was quite a bit of white space that was perfect for Christmas washi tape.

This next card was created from an older Mojo Monday sketch.

  

I was able to create 10 cards with these panels. I'm now ahead of the game! 

Last year I was chastised for sending out store bought cards. 

Not this year. I promise!

Enjoy Life

I don't normally scrap in one page layouts but sometimes I have extra photos or just not enough photos to make a two page layout.  This sketch from Scrapbook Challenges #481 was a perfect match for some night time Disney photos.  The crazy thing about this trip was that my husband and I went to Disneyland just the two of us and then ran into our wonderful friends from Sacramento. We had a blast playing like children!
