Scotland

After spending several wonderful days in Iceland we sailed to the Shetland Islands.  The Shetland Islands are a quaint mix of Scottish and Norwegian culture.  My dad finally got to eat haggis (eww). The temperatures ended up being more chilly than expected and I found an AMAZING scarf at a Scottish thrift store for 3$.  One of the best treasures I found on vacation. I really didn't realize that the Shetland Islands are as close to the North Pole as Greenland.

Club Scrap recently released a collection called Cape Cod Remix that was a perfect match for my Scotland shore line photos. Don't let the name of a kit hamper you on its uses. The colors, images and embellishments are perfect for sailing and coast line adventures.

Birthday by the Sea

Just for Fun Rubber Stamps has a new series of beautiful lighthouse stamps. I have a great love for lighthouses so I was excited to receive these.

The background panel was created by rubbing distress oxide ink in the embossing folder and embossing the panel. I then took a water brush and moved the ink around to give the appearance of water. Distressing the panel edges adds a little fun dimension.

Iceland

On our most recent vacation we traveled to Iceland, which I totally fell in love with! I am a cold weather person and this was my heaven. Iceland is breathtakingly beautiful but has harsh living conditions. We explored massive waterfalls, geysers, lava fields and ventured out on glaciers.

London

We ended our vacation in London.  This beautiful historic city has become one of my favorite international cities.  We do hope to return when it's not so crowded.  We just happened to be there several days before the "Royal Wedding".  Traffic was so insane that if we hadn't walked to the London Tower Bridge the day before we would have never been able to see it.  Buses and taxis were being diverted from that area due to heavy traffic.  We meet a couple that said it took them two hours to just go across the bridge in a car. Eek!

Barrel of Blessings

The new Tapestry digital collection includes two gorgeous overlay images. Digital overlays are a great way to add interest to background papers.  By using different blending modes you can make the overlays bold or soft, depending on the look you're going for.

Tapestry Stencil

I absolutely love using lightweight Spackle with my stencils, specially on dark paper.  I love the ease of applying the Spackle, the resulting texture and the quick clean up.

When I saw all the intricate details of the Tapestry Stencil I couldn't wait to start creating.  I created several panels with the stencil in different positions. Since this stencil is so intricate, I kept the cards really simple.

Briny Bon Voyage

Paper Smooches is hosting a Clean and Simple Challenge which always seems to be the most difficult challenge for me. I like to add "stuff" and white is generally not the color I create with.

1. Die cut Color Burst art panel. Stamp sentiment
2. Stamp and die cut Briny Blue images.
3. Add googly eyes for fun :)

Inked Shadows

Happy Sunday!

September's technique challenge over at Club Scrap is to create shadowing around your stamped images with ink.

Start by stamping your image on your art panel and a second stamped image on your masking paper.  Trim the image to create a mask. Line up the mask over your stamped image and apply ink lightly around the mask.  Color stamped images. Trim finished panel down to card size and add embellishments.

I'm finally getting around to playing with my Club Scrap Tapestry card collection. I adore the round metal frames that come with this kit! Stamped images are from Moroccan Spice.

Now, it’s your turn!  Link your Inked Shadows artwork for a chance to win a prize from Club Scrap! Simply add your image to the Linky Party (please caption artwork with your first name and last name’s initial) below between now and September 30, 2018.

Leaf Wreath

Autumn is my favorite time of the year! I love the cool evenings, leaves changing colors and pumpkin spice chai lattes :) When I received this soon to be released leaf stamp by Just for Fun Rubber Stamps I couldn't wait to make something fallish.

To create this stamped image I used my homemade version of Gina K Designs wreath builder template. I stamped the leaf multiple times and colored the images with my new favorite Chameleon colored pencils.

Belfast

Using Club Scrap's Shibori ALSB pages I created this layout from our day in Belfast, Northern Ireland.  I love how this page design allowed for lots of photos.

Even though the day was dreary and rainy we saw some amazing sights. The Titanic Museum was spectacular and really could have spent a whole day here.  The museum even includes a roller coaster exhibition taking you through different aspects of building the Titanic.

It Aspen a Long Time

I've been honored with the title of "Queen of Snark" from the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers for a second consecutive week. Thank you so much ladies for letting me share my snarkiness!  This title comes with the honor of being the Guest Artist for the new challenge.  Today I'm sharing some "L" is for Leaves fun.

Club Scrap papers, stamps. Prima sequins.

The leaves were created while attempting to create shibori artwork with tissue paper and ink. I didn't fold the tissue paper correctly before applying ink but I loved the result.  I simply stamped the leaf image on the failed attempt art panel and fussy cut.

Head on over to the Sisterhood to see more leaf inspiration.

The Azores

We were blessed with sunny weather while visiting the Azores which I understand is unusual. Our travels this day took us to a pineapple farm where all the fruit is grown in greenhouses. Pineapples take nearly two years to grow in the Azores.

Sao Miguel, Portugal

Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had an amazing holiday weekend. I was able to get some crafting time in and completed scrapping my vacation photos. I had such a fabulous time remembering all the gorgeous sites we explored.  Sao Miguel in the Azores was our first stop on land after 8 days at sea.  The water filled craters were breathtaking and by far my favorite destinations.

Think Big

Happy Saturday!  Thank you for joining us on our Back To School challenge with Just For Fun Rubber Stamps. Chalkboards bring back many fond memories of school for me. I thought a mini chalkboard would be a perfect way to add a sentiment to the front of this card. Stamping and heat embossing in white will give you that "chalk" writing.

We would love for you to share your Back to School projects with us over at Just For Fun Rubber Stamps. Add your link at the bottom of their blog post and you could win a gift certificate to the store
