It's OK to be Crabby

I simply adore the stamps from the Boardwalk collection! I love the simple lines of the shellfish and the many coloring choices you have with these stamps. 

These images gave me inspiration for the June technique challenge over at Club Scrap. The challenge is create your own handmade embellishments which is a perfect challenge for me.  I'm too cheap to buy new embellishments unless they're on clearance. I've been doing a lot of Origami crafts lately and came across an adorable crab!  I searched Pinterest but found this Origami Crab Video on YouTube to be the easiest to follow.  Give it a try.  Remember to use a light weight paper.

Butterflies Love Dahlias

Welcome to the Club Scrap artist challenge! If you've arrived here from Donna's post then you're in the right place. You can start from the beginning at Club Scrap. 

We've been given the challenge to create butterflies or flowers from paper and incorporate them into our projects.  I had actually pinned dozens of handmade flower ideas until I got a look at my Easter photos and just had to do butterflies! My niece is just the cutest little bug that I adore with my whole heart.  Getting a photo of her is almost impossible.  Even when I put the camera on "sports" mode. I wish I had that energy...

Once I started with the layout, I just knew it was going to be more of a wall art piece than a scrapbook layout. I was just having fun adding dimension. It just might end up being a Mother's Day gift. 

Club Scrap papers and tags. Creatology feather. Style Steals flower. Celebrate it! doily and wood title. Copics and Stickles for accents. 

I used this 2 minute video to make these lovely origami butterflies. I added straight pins for the antennae and pearl strips on the body to make them more feminine. These little guys are so easy to make. Using a light weight paper is the key to this technique. You can also see Tricia make that three part bow on YouTube.

Origami Hearts

Karen over at Club Scrap is challenging us to use origami in our layouts, cards and projects. She lists several links to former blog postings if you need some ideas. I chose to do a heart origami to go along with my Valentine's cards.

Let me start off by saying...this takes practice. I started with a text weight paper, moved to vellum and then cardstock.  I found that folds had to be precise and if you burnish with a bone folder, it was easier to deal with when folds became tiny. I may have uttered some naughty words in creating these hearts...

HOWEVER...the end result once you get it down is rewarding!  Love this little guy!

I also did double duty when creating this card.  I used the sketch from Mojo Monday's 430 Sketch with a little bit of a twist to make it my own.
