Happy Thanksgiving my crafty friends!

I am grateful for your continue encouragement, support and gracious comments. 

I've recently been rediscovering my distress oxide inks and their potential to create some magnificent backgrounds. I first created this panel by dipping my paper into the brown and yellow inks pooled on my craft mat. 

Just for Fun stamp. Ellen Hutson die. Club Scrap papers and ribbon. Pan Pastels. Ranger oxide inks. 

Stamp the wheat spray three times without re-inking to create some soft sprays. Adhere die cut title. Flick gold Pan Pastels on art panel with paintbrush and water. Create a three part bow and attach to card front.

February Stencil Technique

Happy Monday!

February's technique challenge over at Club Scrap demonstrates how to brush on ink when using your stencils. I've been hearing about this interesting ink application but haven't gotten around to it. I love the softness the brushes create.

 

1. Using a Dollar Tree make up brush apply white ink to the panel using a  stencil.

2. Carefully remove stencil and dust a metallic Pan Pastel directly to the inked area.

3. Buff away excess powder with a dry cloth.

I saved this "Special You" silver tag from a birthday gift I received. 

I stamped this "Crazy" quote on a panel and was really too lazy to heat set the white ink so I dusted silver Pan Pastel on the stamped image and buffed it. I was surprised and thankful it didn't smear and set instantly.

Apple of My Eye

This collage stamp from Orchard is one of my favorites. I used it multiple times with gelatos for the Club Scrap Artist Team watercolor challenge. This time I wanted to try it with my Pan Pastels. I really like how soft the colors are.

Stamp the collage image with watermark ink. Apply the different colors of Pan Pastels with sponges. Splatter black ink for interest. Stamp quote onto panel. Stamp apple, color with Copics and fussy cut. Emboss background panel with good grain embossing folder. Apply foam adhesive dots to back of apple, wind twine in circles and adhere to panel. Add small black dots of Nuvo Crystals to seeds for dimension. 

How to Plant a Garden

I love collage stamps!  I love the look of different layers and the opportunity to use different colors with one stamp. So I was very excited to see one included in the Garden Shed Jumbo stamps. I also like how you can use this bigger panel to cover the surface of smaller cards. Pan Pastels are a perfect art medium to use with these stamps. You can blend and shade different portions of the image.

Freshly Made Sketches

I love the angles of this week's sketch by Freshly Made Sketches!

 

This panel was created using Pan Pastels in yellows, browns, bronze and greens. I just love being able to add color to various parts of my stamp. The bronze adds a beautiful shimmer to the surface that is hard to capture in a photo.

 

 

Sepia Sunflowers

August's Technique Challenge over at Club Scrap is to create a sepia look. Artist Team member, Hetty demonstrated how to create a sepia look with vintage distressing inks. She even links to her blog for more sepia ideas.

 Club Scrap papers, ribbon, charms and stamp. EK Success punch. Sizzix embossing folder.

The first time I saw these Sunflower stamps I knew I wanted to use my Pan Pastels for the coloring. I love collage stamps! They keep me from having to do all the hard work of masking and stamps.

This first stamp your collage stamp with watermark ink and let dry. Next rub the Pan Pastels over the image lightly and blend to get an even look.

Added micro beads in the center of flowers.



Here are more examples using multiple colors with the Pan Pastels. I added some gold to give the yellow a little sparkle.

Faux Metal Papers

I wanted to share a wonderful technique with you on how to create your own faux metallic papers. I recently purchased these metallic Pan Pastels on sale at Aaron Brothers, knowing I'd "need" them in the future.  Bingo!

Start with black cardstock. Here I am using the Sizzix metal plate embossing folder to add dimension.

Add little dabs of Pan Pastel metallics on to cardstock. 

Blend the colors, adding touches of color until you like what you've got. 

Of course, the photos don't do it justice.  Here is a plain black cardstock next to my "metallic" cardstock.

Some people use a fixodent spray to seal the Pan Pastels. I use cheap hairspray.

You Pick It

Ohh...I love when I have a little free range in a challenge.  Can You Case It? is challenging us to stick to three colors.  Ha..it wasn't as easy as I thought.  However, I've got pink, gray and black stuff ALL over my work area!  Here I created my background with Pan Pastels, placed a strip of tape on the lower section, added gray pan pastel around the tape to give me a "halo" section for a stamp.  I cut a circle out of the paper lace mat, sliced the colored background mat and tucked the circle and feather in behind it. I love the folded tent aspect to this card.

Greatest Treasure

 

What an amazing day I had yesterday!  I had a day filled with Macy's shopping and lunch with my brother!  What else could put a girl in a good mood?  When I got home...I did some serious crafting!

 

I was able to complete the Mojo Monday sketch in no time.  I created numerous Pan Pastel panels today so be prepared to see them all week ;-)...and of course those black feathers.  A girl's got to use her stash so she can buy more, am I right?! One thing I do know...I need to use my anti-static embossing bag more...

CYCI #101

This card actually fits into two challenges this week:  The CYCI (Can You Case It) color challenge and the Club Scrap NBUS (Never Been Used Stamp) time challenge.  I purchased these stamps at the Club Scrap annual retreat several years ago and have never even touched them.  Shame on me!

National Parks Stamp Cards

Here are more of cards made this past weekend with my beloved National Parks Stamp kit! Cutting instructions can be found on the Club Scrap Blog Posting.

Two were used for the watercolor frame technique challenge over at Club Scrap.

This card was entered into Split Coast Stampers color challenge. Using the following color combinations:

Supplies: Sizzix leaf die, burlap, American Craft patch, Paper Smooches Stamps

Here I was playing with my Pan Pastels to color in the National Park stamps. The colors didn't quite come out like I wanted so I spritz ink to distress them a bit.



Supplies: Tim Holtz label dies, Deluxe Cuts ivy.

The rest were stamped with images from National Park and Road Trip.

 

National Parks Greetings to Go

National Parks just might be my favorite kit OF ALL TIME!

I had a blast creating the cards from the Greetings To Go option that I receive with the kit. I had to buy ALL the stamps that go with this kit. I'm hoping a Yellowstone trip is on our near future.
