Brads, Brads and More Brads!

I have nearly 534,798 brads in my collection.  That's a rough estimate.
So when I saw this sketch I squealed with delight.  Time to use up those bad boys!

Delft Blog Hop

Welcome to the Delft Blog Hop brought to you by Club Scrap.  Each month the talented Club Scrap owner, employees and members present a project, card or layout using the monthly featured collection. The  purpose of the blog hop is to demonstrate the beauty of paper and digital crafts.

If you just happened on the blog hop today because you're a regular reader of my blog, and you'd like to view the entire hop, you can start back at Club Scrap. If you're already hopping and linked to me from Tina's Blog, you're in the right spot.

Each member of the team is pulling inspiration from the Delft Collection. The vibrant blues and gorgeous pop of yellow of this collection honor the still-popular art style made famous by the Dutch known as Delft.

I thought it would be kinda cool to make my own tiles.  Rummaging through my stash I found these chicken tiles.  I'm never going to use these as is. However, turn them over and I have a blank canvas!

I stamped the tile with an image in Sapphire blue and then used the crackle image in Ash.  Let dry overnight. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
I decided to get a little adventurous and use the frame stamp for my title. I used the font stamps from Cruisin' on the inside. Now, there is NO WAY I would have attempted this without my Misti. I fell in love with this framed stamp and it's my new favorite.
I colored in the flowers with a light blue Copic and added drops of Nuvo.

The colors of this kit work perfectly with photos from a trip to Disneyland!
I wanted to give a quick shout out to these gel pens
AMAZING! I'm kind of a pen snob and I love the fine tip and how smooth these pens write.

Thank you for hopping with us today! Please continue on to see what amazing project Donna has created for you!

You Brighten My Day

I'm still dabbling with ideas for the Idea Deck Challenge using the 2 of Spades from the Card Making Deck. I wanted to use some of the pattern papers from the Delft collection but didn't realize how bold they'd been in the end.  They totally get your attention!

Delft Digital on Paper

Welcome to the March Artist Team Blog Hop brought to you by Club Scrap. Each month the team presents a themed challenge or technique. The  purpose of the blog hop is to demonstrate the beauty of paper and digital crafts.

If you just happened on the blog hop today because you're a regular reader of my blog, and you'd like to view the entire hop, you can start back at Club Scrap. If you're already hopping and linked to me from Donna's Blog, you're in the right spot.

Each member of the team is pulling inspiration from the Delft Digital Collection.  We're here to show you how to utilize your digital scrapbooking supplies and maybe even mix some digital with your paper crafting. I generally only use my digital supplies for digital artistry so this challenge stumped me a bit. When I receive a digital kit, I look at the papers and decide how to turn them into overlays.  I look at the tags and turn them into blank tags or "steal" an image from the tag to make it something else.  I really love Jac's digital coloring and although we receive the same black image, I tend to snag these. I'll show you how I alter things.

Open the file, select the tag you're going to use with the marquee tool and copy/paste it to a new file.

I wanted to use this tag for an alphabet title so I needed to get rid of the lines.
I wanted to keep the background visible (very slight) so I chose to use the clone stamp instead of just brushing over the lines.
Here's the two tags side by side for comparison.

Now that I have my blank tag I duplicated it 5 times for my title. Lined up the edges for easier cutting.
Next I added the letters of my title to each tag. Making sure to center each letter within the tag.
Save as a .jpg file and print. See how the edges line up?  This is huge when trying to trim these out.

Next I wanted to create some flair.
I really like the colored image on this tag so I selected the tulips with my elliptical marquee, right click and select "layer via cut".
This will open up your selection in a new layer. I then delete the background layer.
Simply add a stroke outline.  Here's your flair.  You could go even further and make it appear like an epoxy or a sticker.
I created a new 8.5x11 document and added six flairs (this allows for mistakes on my part).
I then added a few of the papers from the digital collection to make a full sheet and printed.

Wondering what I'm going to do with those papers?
Probably not what you think I am.
I'm going to turn those into washi tape!

Take your printed paper and add stripes of scotch tape to the papers, leaving a little tab so you can pull it off. Burnish with a bone folder for good contact.
Now quickly pull off the tape.  Not all the paper comes up giving it a transparent look.
So let's put it all together.
I added Nuvo crystal drops to the top and bottom flowers of the tiles.

Thanks for sticking in there today through the lengthy post!
I hope you've learned a few ways to stretch your digital stash.

Sara Binders

A few months back I bought several Sara Binders and inserts that were on clearance. I love binders and planners.  It's almost an obsession. I absolutely love that I can decorate these however I choose for any occasion.

Start with a blank binder and rub Sapphire ink on the outside and inside edges.

Trim papers to fit on front, back, spine and insides. Round corners.
Adhere with bookbinding glue.
 Decorate as desired.

I love these Cabochons and Silver dome settings.

The inside dividers I decorated with cut apart tags and border strips.

The dividers have pockets with flaps and without.

A handy dandy little binder that's going to make a great gift!

Venice Canals

How beautiful is the Delft Digital Collection?!  I love the broken porcelain look to the images! I immediately started pinning images on Pinterest.  I didn't even know Delft was a thing :) I've been having fun creating my own paper tiles with embossing ink and powders.

March's Idea Deck Challenge is to use the 2 of Clubs from any of the five decks.  I actually chose the 8 1/2 x 11 formatted sketch and just converted it to 12x12. Much easier to do when it's digital. The blue skies and striped poles help coordinate the photos and papers.
Yes...that is a journaling card.  I'm really trying to be better about that.
This digital journaling card was much easier to use than I had imagined.

Happy Birthday to Me!

It's my birthday!
I'm supposed to be working today but no one should have to work their 29th birthday?!
No matter how many times it comes around! ;-)

I wanted to share with you this awesome birthday swap I'm a part of at Club Scrap.
Everyone in the swap sends a birthday card to CSHQ each month for the birthday girl or girls.
Club Scrap in turn sends out all the birthday cards to the recipients with their monthly kit.

Look at all the cards I received!!!
I love my Club Scrap family!

Spackle

I have to admit that I'm not very proficient in using ink with my stencils.  I prefer spackle.  I know it sounds weird but I love the results of the raised surface especially when applied on a dark background.  The clean up is a little bit more involved with the spackle so I usually do quite a few panels at one time.  Once they're dry I find small embellishments, ribbon and stamps to coordinate.

One of the challenges for PSL is a stencil/stamp challenge.  I created tons of backgrounds but needed to add stamps and sentiments.  I wanted to share how I choose which stamps to use with them.  I pick a binder. Yep, that's it.  I have six 4" binders FULL of unmounted rubber stamps.
I pick one binder and use only stamps in that binder. Very random but it works.
I have one smaller binder that has all the photocopied index sheets for the stamped images.

This is usually how I start with the backgrounds. I tape the stencil in place and apply spackle. Carefully pull up stencil and set aside to dry. Super easy. I just pick stencils that don't require a large surface area to be covered.

Here's some of my favorite spackle stencil combos.

Add a little Wink of Stella for shimmer.

Nice to See You stencil.

This is one of my favorite stencil and stamp combos.  I'm always saying this!
