This Day

Today I'm showcasing a digital scrapbook layout created for the Club Scrap Surprise Blog Hop.  Once again I'm grateful for the Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs free monthly template which I used here today.

Every month Club Scrap releases a digital hybrid collection that coincides with their paper collection.  The digital collection consists of digital papers, border strips, tags, images and sayings. You can print the pages out on your printer and create paper masterpieces or use them digitally.

I turned one of the Surprise background papers into a 12x12 image and changed the color to blue in Photoshop Elements. I then filled in the template with additional digital elements.

Fun Surprise Sketch

January's card sketch challenge threw me for a bit.  It was something about the orientation of the sketch that I just couldn't make anything happen for me.  So when other posters rotated the sketch, it totally clicked for me. I love getting inspiration from other crafters, even as simple as a rotating twist.

Hot Chick

I've been honored by the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers and named the newest Queen of Snark (which is shocking for some of you).  This title comes with the honor of being the guest designer for the new Farm challenge.
I wanted to create a farm feel to the whole card right down to the embellishments.  I think chicken wire, feathers and twine should do it:)

Inside of card: A true friend is one who thinks you are a good egg even if you're half cracked.

I hope you join us over at the Sisterhood and share your farm creations.

Sip Sip Hooray

I knew the minute I saw the Surprise jumbo unmounted stamps that I HAD to have them!  The assorted drink glasses and the "Sip, Sip, Hooray!" had me sold.

One rainy day I stamped and colored tons of images to be used later.  These Club Scrap Surprise stamps work perfectly with my Free Spirit stamps and dies.

Ocean Bliss

The December 2017 Monthly Layout challenge design was the inspiration for this layout. Now the theme of these papers is Night at the Met but as you can see, paper theme doesn't matter as much as the color harmony.  I love how the blues in the photos are so striking against the purple tones of the paper. The underlying images on the paper are of ballerinas, but upside down and covered with photos they look almost like seashells. Don't let a paper theme hinder you.

Lambeau

January's Monthly Layout Challenge over at Club Scrap is to use the January sketch available to members only, scrap a celebration or any double layout page using the Surprise collection or color palette.  I chose to use the sketch to scrap my recent visit to Lambeau.

No matter how many times we visit Lambeau and take the tour, we learn something new. This time we got to visit the Away Team locker room where Cindy got to sit in Brett Favre's locker when he played for the Vikings.

Never Been Used Stencils

I am still on my New Year's crafty resolution and using all the stencils I've never used before.  It's a challenge I've given myself to either use or lose my neglected craft stash.

Before I share my stencil creations I wanted to show you how I store my blenders for the Oxide Distress inks. Originally I stored the blender pads on the bottoms of the ink pads with Velcro. It drove me NUTS that the ink pads no longer stacked well.  I now store the pads in a metal tin.

Trim four pieces of heavy cardstock to fit the container and attached six round Velcro pieces to each sheet. Label the colors.

Now, on to some stencil creations.
Club Scrap papers, Dahlia stencil and stamp. Queen & Co. pearls.
Club Scrap papers, stamps and What a Ride stencil.

Now I've used this Trattoria stencil before but I just love this little guy!!!

Because You're Sweet

Club Scrap's January technique challenge is to use color blocking.  There are several ways to achieve color blocking using papers and inks. I wanted to challenge myself and try something new. I used masking and stamping to achieve the blocks.
1. Start by masking off the area you want to ink.
2. Ink area and stamp image.
3. Remove masking tape and mask another section. Repeat inking and stamping.
4. Continue masking areas until all surface areas are inked and stamped.
5. Remove all masking tape and create your finished card.
Some helpful tips. Use grid paper to make sure paper and masking tape is aligned straight. Use removable labeling tape to easily position and remove without harming paper.

Lean on Me

Paper Smooches is hosting an Anything Goes challenge.  I love their stamps and dies so this was a hard decision for me.  Until my dear "sister-from-another-mother" broke her ankle running.  See...exercise is bad for you! ;-) Thought this would cheer her up.

I'm actually surprised that I got those crutches mostly lined up by winging it.

Winter Chills

Cards in Envy is hosting a Winter Chills challenge. How appropriate is that since much of the Midwest and East Coast have been blanketed with snow and below freezing temperatures.

These cards were also designed for the Idea Deck Challenge over at Club Scrap using the Card Making Deck Vol. I.  I just love how the sketches and cutting instructions are included on each card. There is only one deck left out of five so get it before it's gone.

Check Liver Light

I absolutely love the ladies over at Snarky Stampers! Their work is almost always a guarantee for some giggles.  They're hosting a Naughty Christmas challenge and I just couldn't decide which stamps to use.
I love the Holiday Spirits stamps from Avery Elle and spent an evening one rainy night in front of the TV coloring dozens of these little guys. The sentiment from Riley & Co. can be used with just about any celebration. I'm still on my "never been used" stencil endeavor and pulled out this stencil from Lagoon and heat embossed it.

I Pick You

Less is More is hosting sketch #22 challenge.  Since I had my "never been used stencils" out, I thought this would be a great opportunity to use this beauty with embossing powders.  I love the bold contrast the white and red create.

Twine-Tags-Trees

Just Add Ink is hosting a Twine-Tags-Trees challenge which caught my interest. I just happen to love all three so this was an easy one for me.

My New Year's crafty resolution is to use neglected tools.  I have at least a dozen unopened card kits that need to be completed so I just reached into the bin and plucked one out. I used a very neglected stencil with oxide inks to created the background. To continue using neglected items, I chose this berry branch die purchased at a recent Scrapbook Expo but never used.

How cute is little mini book on the front of the card?!  The inside of the main card says "Safe Travels".  You'll be seeing more from Literature collection. I was on a roll and created several cards with stencils never before used. Totally exciting!
