It's a Plaid, Plaid World

I need a way to organize my documents and goodies collected for our upcoming trip to Ireland, Iceland and London. I love to keep wine labels as mementos.  For this trip, I'm hoping to try different beers and whiskeys. I see lots of labels in my future.

The Memento Holder is a past retreat project.  I created this new one with large black envelopes and the It's a Plaid Plaid World paper collection. The organizer has tons of pockets for ticket stubs and pages for photos and labels.

Pause and Be Joyful

I couldn't wait for my Shibori paper collection to arrive to join in on the Club Scrap challenge.  I downloaded and printed the Shibori Hybrid Collection to kick start my creativity.

Be Different

Club Scrap is challenging its members to create their own Shibori artwork with tissue papers. This Japanese dye technique uses different folds and twists to create patterns on cloth. Today I'm playing with re-inkers and tissue paper. Julie gives a great tutorial on the Club Scrap blog.

Using the re-inkers I had on hand and folded tissue paper, I created these background Shibori panels.
I then adhered the tissue to manila tags using bookbinding glue to make the panels more sturdy.
Time to create cards with the gorgeous panels.

This blue panel was created using Color Burst powders dissolved in alcohol.

If you'd like to join the challenge for a chance to win a Club Scrap gift certificate, enter your artwork via the Linky party on the website.

Hybrid Digital Kits

I have been receiving the Club Scrap Digital collections for years.  Until this month, I have never printed them out and use them for cards or layouts.  I've always used the collections for digital creations.
The process is so easy! Just print out the Shibori Hybrid sheets, no software needed. The images line up so that trimming is simple. Here's a few cards I created using my own cardstock and the hybrid images.

The NYLO

While working the Irving, Texas Scrapbook Expo we stayed at the NYLO Hotel.  This is probably one of the coolest hotels I've stayed in.  Everything is so modern and industrialized.  The walls and floors are cement. The open piping in the ceilings, the fixtures, right down to the plumbing were contemporary. The first thing I thought was how the recently released Steamworks collection would be perfect with these photos.

Repeat Stamping

April's NBUS Challenge (Never before used stuff) over at Club Scrap is to create a pattern by stamping repeatedly.  I'm not very efficient at stamping in a row without looking like I've been drinking. I do have a new way for my repeated stamping to look "artsy".

I smear distress oxide ink on a craft mat and add water.  I use this as my "stamp pad". Ink up your stamp and then stamp on paper.  This gives your project a watercolor effect. No more stressing about wayward stamping.
