Sunflower Blog Hop

Welcome to the Club Scrap Sunflower Blog Hop. Join us on the hop to see what this talented team has created using this beautiful collection.  If you've arrived here from the very talented Tina's blog you're in the right spot. If not, make sure you start at the beginning to see what Karen has created for you.

I drive by fields of beautiful sunflowers on my way to work and admire their bold beauty. However, I do wish the blooms would last longer. I was excited to see that Sunflowers was this month's collection. While doing a search on Pinterest for sunflower ideas I came across many projects with bold beautiful flowers on a darker background using various markers. I love the look but I don't want to invest in another art medium. Which made me go way back into the memory banks of my mind to recall a retreat workshop. Don't know what year it was but it was when we learned how to use the Position It!

Stamp you image on the clear plastic. Place it where you want your design.
Line up the guide and stamp the image on black paper with white ink.
Don't remeove the guide. Re-ink and stamp it again to make it extra white.
Heat set.

Next spray water on your rubber stamp. Color your stamp with Gelatos.
Using the Position It! line up your white image and your gelato gooey stamp and stamp.
Here I spritzed water on the rubber stamp and stamped a second time.

Here's some of the finished cards. Each one is a little different in boldness.

Jungle Cruise

I can't believe I didn't share this digital layout with you before now. I think somewhere in the depths of my mind I was saving it until I was finished with my Europe vacation photos. I like to work chronologically but was super excited to use these So Wild embellishments from Lisete Scrap.   Every time I go to Disneyland I HAVE to ride the Jungle Cruise. Even as silly as that sounds, it's a Disney must.

This double page digital page layout was created for the Idea Deck challenge using the 3 of Clubs.

Nailed It!

Happy Monday!

I'm creating with items that have been neglected.  I loved the Blueprints collection but haven't really played with the stamps or papers.  I just happened to find these quad prints and figured it would be easy to design with since I didn't really have to dig through my papers to match. The bases are from the Apothecary Greetings to Go.

I started off with creating a card for the August Card Sketch Challenge. A simple design that has led to many gorgeous creations by the gals on the Club Scrap Forum. There is still time to play if you'd like to join us.

What goes better with construction than this steel embossing folder and denim?!

With all this manly stuff I had to throw in some flowers. Plus, I've been wanting to use this embossing folder.

Have an amazing week!

Furr-Ever Friends

Happy Friday from Sierra and I!
Sierra helping me scrap.

I am constantly taking pictures of my Sierra. She just turned 17 last month and I have quite the collection of wonderful photos. I'm not sure why she hasn't made it into my scrapbooks more. Club Scrap came out with a cute Furr-Ever Friends Fluffy kit. I have finally cut into and have created some pages that just need photos. I couldn't resist making a few cards with some of the left over pieces.

Can You Case It?  is hosting a Pet Challenge this week. This card is very simple only using left over embellishments (feather from stash) from this kit. Sometimes the simple cards are the cutest!

Shine

Creative with Stamps is hosting a challenge in geometric shapes. I couldn't think of a better use for my color burst panels! I love how diverse these art panels are.  Just add a stamp and some embellishments and you have a spectacular card!

Back to School

Welcome to the Club Scrap Artist Team Blog Hop.  This month it's back to school for many households. Join us on the hop to see what this talented team has created for this event.  If you've arrived here from the very talented Donna's blog you're in the right spot. Make sure you start at the beginning to see what Karen has created for you.

When I first spotted this luscious gold paper in the Sunflower collection all I could think about was using it for my niece or nephew. They are the shining stars in our families! The gold tones are perfect for a sepia toned layout. At first I was at a loss for what I could use as embellishments for back to school. In my "Stash of Randomness" drawer I found a library pocket and book check out slip that just needed some ink to blend with the sepia tone. This file folder dates back to 2007 from the Academy collection. That's how deep my "Stash of Randomness" drawer is!

Club Scrap papers, stamp, library pocket, card, file folder and paper clips. Paper torn from binder. Burlap. Unknown wooden stars.

Thank you for joining us today. Please continue on to see what spectacular project Tina has created for you.

Lightsabers

HaHa! Lightsabers...thought that'd get your attention.
I just love this saying! I swear they make packaging adult proof.

If you don't have an Idea Deck, you're missing out! These wonderful decks help make the most of your papers and require little thinking. Each card comes with a formula that includes a material list, cutting directions, sketches and what size envelope you'll need. There are 5 decks but only one left for purchase. I use them constantly when I'm in a design rut.

This month's Idea Deck Challenge at the Club Scrap Forum is to use the 8 of hearts card from any deck and start creating. If you don't have a deck and want to join us, here's a blog post on how to use it.

I cheated a bit here and use two printed papers so I didn't have to do much to embellish.

Freshly Made Sketches

I love the angles of this week's sketch by Freshly Made Sketches!

This panel was created using Pan Pastels in yellows, browns, bronze and greens. I just love being able to add color to various parts of my stamp. The bronze adds a beautiful shimmer to the surface that is hard to capture in a photo.

The Bee's Knees

I know it's Saturday and I should give you a break on the weekends, but I have so much to post that I just couldn't help it.

Sometimes it feels good not making a mess! That's what I love about digital scrapbooking. I've been taking some on-line classes from Scrapaneers and have learned so much. I've learned all about different shadowing, how to make stitching look more real and blending.

Today I'm working with a free monthly template by Fiddle Dee Dee Designs. I just love her templates. She has new dressed down designs for those that don't really add a whole lot of "fluff" to their pages.

Mojo Monday and Sunflowers

Happy Friday!

Thought I'd kick off the weekend with a challenge. I was getting messy in my craft room with color bursts and the Sunflower stamps. I'm nearing the end of playtime for this kit and had one lonely flower left. This weeks sketch by Mojo Monday has a perfect use of it!

All materials by Club Scrap.

Have an amazing weekend!

Monaco

Monaco is such a  beautiful place to visit while in the French Riviera. I'm just in awe at the immense yachts and lifestyle of the rich and famous at the Casino. While we were there they were setting up for the Grand Prix and our tour guide drove us along the track. Quite harrowing even at the legal speed limit. We made it just in time to watch the changing of the guards at the palace. A visit to the cathedral where Princess Grace was married is a must!

Club Scrap papers, ribbon, stamps, border stip and alpha stickers. Queen&Co. gems. Gold coin souvenir.

I just wanted to demonstrate that the Sunflower collection doesn't have to be about flowers. I stamped the border and used the muted green script printed papers for the inside.

Bonjour

I'm still using up all those craft panels whether they're stamps, Color Bursts or Gelli prints.  I found some pink and purple panels that matched well with the Jubilee Greetings to Go collection. Pink is one of my favorite colors and is actually a hard color to come by in the scrapping world. Not too many pink lovers out there who aren't scrapping baby photos.

Club Scrap papers, stamps and ribbon. Martha Stewart punch. Flourish stamped using the Mirror Image Technique

Take Wing stamp using the Reverse Color Burst technique.

These two cards don't involve art panels but were from the same set and quite fun to add feathers to (my new favorite embellishment).

Wear a Crown

I absolutely adore this digital layout!  Well...lets be honest here, the subject matter is beyond adorable! The original colors of the papers from Big Top were a bit bold for the look I was going with so I decreased the saturation and lightness. Easy to do by using the sliders in a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer in Photoshop Elements.

I couldn't help but use this newly acquired template from Gennifer Bursett. I'm in love with sunburst patterns and was super excited to find a digital version. The layout was created for Scrapaneers birthday celebration.

Can You Case It? Sunflowers

What perfect timing! Can You Case it? is hosting a color challenge using yellows, greens and neutrals.  I happen to be working with the Sunflower Greetings to Go collection this weekend. This collection is so fun and happy!  Here's a few cards made with the long and narrow cards.

Club Scrap papers, tags, stamps and wooden flower. Bo Bunny gems. Sizzix embossing folder.

Club Scrap papers, tags, stencil and ribbon. Stickles. Sizzix embossing folder.
Yes...still using up those gelli print tags :)

Creating Overlays

I wanted to demonstrate how easy it is to create a digital overlay with just one simple stamp.

Open the stamp of your choice. Select Edit--Define pattern.

Create a new blank 12x12 file with the background transparent.

While your new blank layer is selected, go to Edit--Fill Layer.
Under Contents select Pattern then use the drop down menu to find your stamp.

Select OK.  Your blank page should now be filled with that stamp image.  You're done!
Save as a png. I don't adjust the opacity or alter this image. I save that for when creating a layout.

When I created this layout I erased some of the overlay with a distressed eraser at 24% opacity. I then used an overlay blending mode.

All Club Scrap digital elements.

Gardners Know the Best Dirt

I was going through sketches to gather inspiration for more "messy" cards. I wanted to use up some of the gelli plate panel cards that were created at retreat several years ago. Really...I need to use these beauties up! I didn't get a chance to upload the cards to their respected challenges in time. Sometimes life just gets in the way with creativity.

This first one was also used for the NBUS (Never Been Used Stuff) challenge at Club Scrap. I've never really used any of the quote stamps from Farmer's Market. I actually have someone in mind for this one!

Club Scrap papers, stamp, stencil, leaf and ribbon. Darice embossing folder. Button from old sweater.

This second card was created with two separate gelli prints but you'd never know it. The panels are a little dark and mysterious and just screamed Halloween to me.

Club Scrap paper, stencils. K&Co. Halloween embellishments. SEI stamp.

I'm having fun getting messy so stay tuned for more messiness!

Nice, France

After Eze we traveled all over Nice getting in different vantage points of this wonderful city. From the hustle and bustle of the city, to the ancient ruins and ending at cliff sides overlooking the French Rivera. We absolutely loved the street side cafes. The fresh paninis, pizzas and salads were heavenly!
