Let Your Light Shine

I couldn't wait to create a Master Board with the Sea Breeze stamps. A few years back a group of ladies from the Club Scrap online community did a Master Board swap which was so fun to receive. A Master Board is basically a collage of different stamped images. I tend to use masks and stamp but you most certainly can have your images overlap.  

Stamp on a 12x12 sheet of cardstock with different images and colors. Trim into panels.

I created two cards from the Card Making Idea Deck using the newly created backgrounds.

I have two final cards to share with you created with the remaining digital masterboard panels. After all the scrapping/card making from this month's Paris Flea Market I still had some tags and lace edges laying around. Time to use it up so I can clean up.  I like to start off the month with a clean work surface, just in time for my new kit to arrive.

Anything Goes!

Love to Scrap! is hosting an "Anything Goes" challenge.  While this might sound easy, sometimes I like to have the direction of a sketch or embellishment to start with. I knew that I wanted to start with some of the Paris Flea Market masterboard sheet I created and the white tags. 

Club Scrap papers, stamps, digital stamps, tag and ribbon. Prima flower, Queen&Co. pearl. Sizzix embossing folder.

Here I took a dictionary page, wrinkled and inked it up for the background. Embossed black paper with a Sizzix brick wall embossing folder. I took a long white ribbon tag, sliced off both ends, stamped it and wrapped it around the thread.

Not Quite Paris Blog Hop

By now you know that Paris Flea Market is one of my all time favorites collections! I'm sure you also know that Paris is on my bucket list. Next month my family is off to the Mediterranean where we'll be sailing across the Atlantic eventually ending up in Venice.  The closest we'll get to Paris is Nice, France. I still think this kit is perfect for the two travel necessities I prepare for almost every trip.  I usually have some sort of journal and I have a folio for receipts and small keepsakes.

I found these little chipboard "Sarabinders" by Hot off the Press on clearance at my local scrapbook store and bought every last one.  They had envelopes, page dividers and paper inserts that go with them. I bought four of them with 20 different packs of  inserts for $10!

I covered the outside with a printed cardstock making sure the images were positioned where they'd make the most impact. Make sure to work the paper into the binding folds. It did take some time and patience but it goes in. I think next time I might paint the inside near the binding to make it easier.

I then covered the inside with gray panels. Make sure to mark the hole each time.

Next came the dividers and panels. I used the same masking technique that was used to create the masterboard. 

I love my little journal keepsake!

Next came the folio. This is so simple!  I just adhered three envelopes together at the flaps.

 I cut panels to cover the fronts and back of each envelope and added two blank mats for inside. Decorate panels if you wish. I usually jot down confirmation numbers on the panels so I keep the images to a minimum. 

 This is what it looks like closed. The envelopes fold inward leaving the open flap tucked inside so nothing falls out.

You're a Hoot Goes to Paris

Fusion Card Challenge is hosting a challenge based on a photo or sketch. I couldn't decide if I like the sketch more or those cute little owls! So I went with both. I have some little wooden owls left over from Valentine's day cards that would be perfect!  The background was created with my digital masterboard printed out.

Masterboard Part 2

The masterboard technique is a huge hit on the forum over at Club Scrap. I loved this paper stamping technique so much that I created a digi version too.  Years back we had a digital collage swap where everyone created and swapped their pages.  I still have those files somewhere!  Well we've started a new swap for paper and digital masterboard artwork.  If you're interest head to the Master Board Swap forum and sign up!

You can either do a paper swap or digital swap. Use any Club Scrap papers or stamps.  If you're creating with paper, trim the paper into four panels, mail them to me and I'll mix them up and return 4 different panels for you to create with. If you join the digital swap, I'll email you all the swap images.

March Masterboard

Today over at Club Scrap and on her blog, Lilian is sharing with us how to create a Masterboard. I can't even express how happy I was with the finished products.  Don't let the first few steps throw you, it looks like a giant mess. I did things a little different. I masked the Paris Flea Market images when stamping (I just don't like chaos) and I didn't really color in the images. I love the ash, black and a splash of pink colors that go with the kit.  You'll be seeing a lot of those little feathers with this collection.  I squealed with delight on how they go together!

Stamp images randomly on a sheet of paper. I used post it note masks so that images didn't overlap.

Cut sheet into panels for cards. I decided to flick black ink for interest.

I acutally used two panels for this card. If you notice the original sheet has a Paris collage image upside down. 

It was driving me nuts, so that's the second smaller panel.
