Simple Tricks

Happy Friday!

I've had many people ask me how I get my sticker letters straight.  You can use a grid ruler as a guide but I found it too thick when it came down to adhering. So I took a thin piece of plastic and made two guide lines on it with a Sharpie.  One a quarter inch from the edge and one half inch line on the opposite side. This guide allows me to place the bottoms of my stickers flush with the line in whatever spacing I want. I simply position the guide on my paper where I want my stickers to go and use my whole hand to hold down the tops of the stickers and gently pull away the plastic guide.

With the Long Stitch Album that I posted yesterday I used my Mini-Misti. Misti stands for "Most Incredible Stamp Tool Invented" and I totally agree. I strongly held out on this tool since I had my Position It! At the Scrapbook Expo in October they had a good price on the Mini-Misti and really...there's wasn't anything else I wanted to buy.

I AM IN LOVE with this tool! In the past I would not have stamped DIRECTLY onto every page. I would have stamping on a scrap, trimmed and matted and then put it on the page. I didn't have to do that but of course I practiced for a bit beforehand.

I found the pages fit nicely in the mini-Misti with the edge at 4.25.

I then placed my stamp where I wanted it, closed the door, opened it and  straightened the stamp by eye. I cut a clear piece of acetate the size of the page, placed it on top of the page and stamped on it first to make sure it was straight and where I wanted it. I removed the acetate and stamped directly on the book page. It was so simple and nearly perfect every time.

I say nearly perfect because of the 32 times I stamped in this book...I messed up once.  That's some good odds! Luckily the goof was on the last page and I just used my Copics to color it in a bit.

Have a fabulous weekend!

  1. I really love your book, you always give me great ideas. I have the mini and the next size misti, that thing is just too awesome for stamping. I use it all the time for pretty much all my stamping. It's really great for those layered stamps too.
