Out with the New

The masculine colors and feel to these Steamworks Greetings to Go cards had me digging through my specialty papers to find something rugged.  These handmade brown toned marbled papers are the just the perfect addition.

Have a Good One

If you're not a member of the Club Scrap Chat group on Facebook, you're missing out on all the fun challenges!

I created this card for the NBUS (Never Before Used Stuff) challenge that had us searching for gears and wheel stamps.  I meticulously stamped this background paper with gears from the Time of Your Life collection using a dark brown ink.  I didn't want any image overlapping. I put the card together, set it aside to photograph.  When I got around to taking photos the images had all but disappeared.  I was shocked to find how absorbent the paper was.  So if you look REAL close...you can see the images.

Have a Nice Birthday

This month's Past & Present challenge for Club Scrap is to complete projects, cards or layouts using supplies from Passage of Time (01/2001), Time and Space (12/2004) or  Lock and Key (10/2013).  I chose Lock & Key because it combines well with this month's Steamworks collection. I even had the gold embossed key die cut out on my desk.  It was just meant to be.

Hello Fusion

Fusion Card's recent challenge found me using new and old products.  I found a stack of Gelli plate tags I created last year that match perfectly with the card bases I had out on my desk. At the last scrapbook expo I came across this mini alphabet die by Elizabeth Craft Designs and haven't had a chance to use it yet.  The letters fit perfectly on the ribbon.

You Are So Loved

Don't you just love free stuff?! Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs offers a free digital template every month. Sometimes I just don't have the creative mojo to complete a layout from scratch.  In this case, I don't have the knowledge on how to make this layout from scratch :0

Totally Chic

This month's Idea Deck challenge is to use the 9 of diamonds from any of the 5 idea decks.  I thought the cards with the strips looked intriguing. I liked that I could stamp and mask a quote or use random words within a category.

February Stencil Technique

Happy Monday!
February's technique challenge over at Club Scrap demonstrates how to brush on ink when using your stencils. I've been hearing about this interesting ink application but haven't gotten around to it. I love the softness the brushes create.

1. Using a Dollar Tree make up brush apply white ink to the panel using a  stencil.
2. Carefully remove stencil and dust a metallic Pan Pastel directly to the inked area.
3. Buff away excess powder with a dry cloth.

I saved this "Special You" silver tag from a birthday gift I received.
I stamped this "Crazy" quote on a panel and was really too lazy to heat set the white ink so I dusted silver Pan Pastel on the stamped image and buffed it. I was surprised and thankful it didn't smear and set instantly.
If you'd like to join us in the linky party for a Club Scrap gift certificate, please add your stencil creation at the bottom of the Club Scrap blog post.
Have a fabulous day!

The Best Use of Life

February's card sketch challenge over at the Club Scrap Chat group is a fun one that allows the artist to be creative with the large left sided image.  Many of the artists have chosen to substitute the circle for a heart in honor of Valentine's Day.

Spray mist inks onto background with the stencil in place. Carefully remove stencil to reveal background. Want to learn how to make this bow that makes mailing these beauties easier? Check out Tricia's video here.

Steamworks Stencil

The first thing I did when my Club Scrap Steamworks collection arrived was to start playing with the stencil. I used ink, spackle, spray mists and oxide inks. I was just making a mess.  It was awesome!  My favorite background shown here was made by completely inking an ivory mat with vintage photo distress oxide ink. Spray water onto the stencil and then laying the stencil on the oxide ink background. I let it set for about 15 seconds and then removed it.   Absolutely love the results!

Go Have Fun

I really need to start adding photos to my nekked ALSB pages!  As I was flipping through my nekked page album I found this Hypno layout had all the right sentiments and colors for my photos from Retreat 2017. What a fabulous group of gals!

I Love That We're Friends

I was in the middle of organizing my craft space when I created these quick Valentine's Day cards.  As I was going through my stash I felt the need to incorporate some neglected stamps.

Cherish

I couldn't resist sharing some Valentine's Day cards I created using Tricia's formula for color blocking cards. This cutting and assembly formula lets you use a wide variety of embellishments and accents.  I had recently come across some neglected tags from an older Club Scrap Valentine's collection and thought this would be a perfect opportunity to show them some love. I tried to keep the cards by using only stamps, gems, ribbon and embossing folders.

This formula gives you 10 cards from just 5 sheets of 12x12 papers.

Love

Wednesday's blog post showcased a digital layout from a beautiful wedding I attended this summer.  Today I wanted to share with you the paper version.  I used the Ace of Spades from Idea Deck Vol. I as my inspiration.
For the title I covered the wooden title with ink and then stamped a script image and let dry.
The washi tape border has black Nuvo drops for added depth.
